And the final Poem a Day for National Poetry Month is:
it’s the end of the road
and here we say farewell
can’t say that i had a good time
can’t say i’m ecstatically happy or
else i’d be lyin’
can’t say what i won’t say
i’m running out of truth
so i might as well say
i think i’m over you
funny how perception changes
depending on where i stand
once i would have smiled
now i can’t raise my head
too deep
run the memories
of what i’ve suffered through
so i might as well say
i think i’m over you
can’t stop running back to you
even though i made a promise
that i’d never return
the door saw my back
as i walked away
carried all my things
in my arms
but left my heart behind
don’t know
where i should be
lost all my grounding
when i shed my wings
can’t say that i’m fine
can’t say that i’m fine
it’s the end of the road
and here we say good-bye
can’t think of anything to say
that won’t be lie
doesn’t matter how
it hurts and burns
always makes me cry
can’t say what i won’t say
i’m running out of truth
so i guess i can say
i can’t get over you
