Disruption
Sleep disturbed
By the sharp stench of woe and
The perpetrator fleeing the scene
Brought low by despair
But with weary acceptance
Retaliation with chemical warfare begins
My hips
Which have borne children and
Rocked lovers to sleep
Ache
From the assault on my peace
Fatigue burns through
Muscle and bone
And I succumb to the faint whispers of slumber
Chasing a half-remembered dream
